Brand Epochs - Automobiles

Just like in the last two years, I have prepared a new project for the year 2015. based on my artistic interpretation of word- and figurative marks, I have been developing painting series since 2012 that deal especially with the topic of automobiles. 

My projects from previous years under the title "Racing Sports Legends" have dealt with the historical racing series of the "Mille Miglia" and the classical "24 Hours of Le Mans". Now, in the new painting series under the title "Brand Epochs – Automobiles", I am highlighting those international automobile manufacturers from a new side whose brand names and signets have remained distinctive until today. 

The first ideas for a further development of my "Racing Sports Legends" have already come up during autumn last year. Meanwhile, I have been able to complete 8 artworks and the preparations for the exhibition premiere are well underway. 

At the moment, the catalogue accompanying the project is being compiled, which, with the friendly support of the printing house Thiekötter, will be completed till the beginning of the trade fair. The new catalogue, upon completion, will also be available in the download section of my website. 

Additionally, there will be a special project area on my website again, which will deal with the theme "Brand Epochs".

Brand Epochs - Automobiles

Since the early days of the automobile, in which the first vehicles were still ridiculed as a short-term trend, the manufacturers adorned their constructions partly with high-value trademarks in the form of metal reliefs or enamelled badges, in order to make the clear identification with the brand and the company possible via the exposed position on coolers, wheel- and steering hubs. Among the diverse colours and forms of the eye-catching symbols, often borrowings from the heraldry of country´s or family´s coats of arms as well as stylized initials could be found that allowed to guess the founder or the brand names. 

In this first edition of the Brand Epochs on the topic of automobiles I am introducing my aristic interpretations of the brand symbols of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Benz, Porsche, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, Maserati and Alfa-Romeo to honour those distinctive seals of technological innovation that have touched us emotionally until today.

The first 8 artworks will be presented at the 27th Techno-Classica Essen. Every year, international exhibitors are coming to this world´s largest trade fair for the vintage- and classic car branche, in order to stage an impressive spectacle with the Haute Couture of automobile manufacturing. 

In this year´s special exhibition on the theme "Tourist Trophy", participants of the legendary Irish road race, held between 1905 and 1936, can be marvelled at. 

I addition, also all the 8 brands presented by me will be present at the Techno-Classica Essen with their own stalls.
