Techno-Classica Essen 2015

Just like in the last two years I have prepared a new project for 2015 as well. Based on my artistic interpretation of denonimative mark descriptions and figurative marks in my "Logoart" works I have developed several series since 2012 that deal especially with the topic of automobiles. My projects from previous years, titled "Racing Legends" dealt with the historical races of the "Mille Miglia" and the classical "24 Houres of Le Mans". Now my new series of paintings under the title "Brands of an Epoch - Automobiles" will highlight a completely new side of car manufacturers whose brand names and signets have remained unforgettable until today.

First ideas for my "Racing Legends´" advancement have already developed in autumn 2014. In the meantime I have finished 8 artworks and the work for the exhibition´s opening are well on the way.

Currently the catalogue that will accompany the project is being assembled with the kind help of "Thiekötter" printing house and shall be finished till the trade fair´s opening. It can be downloaded in the "Download-section" of my website once it is complete. Additionally there will be a new project section on my website that will deal with the topic "Brands of an Epoch".

Brands of an Epoch - Cars

Since the pioneer age of cars, in which the first vehicles were smiled at as a short term fashion, manufacturers have adorned their constructions with partly significant trademarks. Metal reliefs or enameled badges were attached either to exposed places on the radiator grills, wheel hubs or the steering wheel to create a destinct identification with the brand and the company. Among the various colours and shapes of the concise symbols are frequently borrowings from heraldry, coats of arms from countries and families and stylised initials that hint at the respective founder or the brand name.

In this first edition of Brands of an Epoch with the topic Cars I present my artistic interpretations of the brand marks of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Benz, Porsche, Jaguar, Rolls-Royce, Maserati and Alfa-Romeo and pay tribute to these unique seals of technological innovation that still touch us emotionally today.

The first 8 works from this series will be presented on the 27th Techno-Classica Essen , which will take place in the nearly booked-out halls of the trade fair Messe Essen next month from 15th - 19th April 2015. On this world´s-biggest trade fair for vintage and classic cars, every year international exhibitors present an astonishing spectacle with the Haute Couture of car manufacturers.

In this year´s special exhibition with the topic "Tourist Trophy" , historical participants of the legendary Irish road race, which was held from 1905 till 1936, can be marvelled at. 

Furthermore, all the eight brands that I will show there, will also be present on the Techno-Classica Essen with their own stalls.
