At the end of last month I travelled to Essen to exhibit the five artworks of my project "Legends of Motorsports - Le Mans" at the 26th Techno-Classica Essen 2014.

Just like last year the trade fair attracted almost 200.000 car enthusiasts from all over the world and could justify its reputation as the world´s largest trade fair, even before the Retro Mobile in Paris, for vintage cars and collectible cars. In 20 completely booked out fair halls and the surrounding open air area roundabout 1250 manufacturers, retailers and clubs presented a variety of offers concerning the passion for vehicle designs of past epochs. Among other offers, about 2500 vehicles were on sale here.

Compared to last year this year´s Techno-Classica was entirely dedicated to racing sports. Therefore. Mercedes Benz presented a decent high rise rack with 13 original racing cars from the time between 1914 an 1998. Further Silver Arrows by Audi from the glorious epoch of the Car Union could be marvelled at. Also h Porsche, BMW, Jaguar and Bentley had brought their treasures from their racing programmes of past days to the trade halls.

Motorsports being the main topic of the trade fair, I was well-fitted with my exhibition "Legends of Motorsports - Le Mans" . At my stall of 35 square metres in hall 4 I presented the two painting series of the overall winners of Le Mans between 1929 and 1939 and three other works of my Le Mans - poster series . The feedback concerning my artworks that I got in conversations with diverse car manufacturers, -suppliers and -lovers was entirely positive.

I found especially nice that vehicles from most of the brands that I have painted, like Chenard & Walcker, Bentley, Lorraine-Dietrich, Alfa-Romeo, Lagonda, Bugatti and Delahaye, could be found in the trade fair premises.

For me it was the second appearance at the Techno Classica as an exhibitor with many new and interesting contacts. I can recommend this trade fair to everybody who is interested in beautiful cars and automobile history.
