The mechanical engineer and ardent racing pilot Walter Owen Bentley began working independently in 1912, to market the vehicles of the French car manufacturer D.F.P. in England and to make them suitable for racing sports by modifying them. With the requirement to build the Empire´s first racing car, the model EXP-1 was developed in London´s Cricklewood under the name Bentley Motors. Since then the Winged B in various colours adorns the radiator grill of the chassis. In the 1920ies the so-called Bentley Boys shaped the brand´s fame on the racing tracks. In Le Mans the Bentleys could achieve five overall victories between 1923 and 1933, four of them in a row. The factory teams of 1929 and 1930 even achieved one quadruple- and one double victory.
