Ferencz Olivier at the Techno-Classica 2014

Created by Ferencz Olivier |

Last year I utilized the 25th anniversary of the Techno-Classica Essen for the kick-off of my exhibition series of the painting series "Racing Sport Legends - Mille Miglia". With over 1250 exhibitors from more than 30 nations, the TCE counts as the world´s largest trade fair forr collectible automobiles. On the five days of the trade fair, over 193000 visitors could let themselves be inspired by more than 125 years of automobile history coming alive in the 20 halls of the annual specialised fair for vintage- and classic cars.

I would like to live up to my success last year and will therefor visit the trade fair in Essen with the further developments of my project "Racing Sports Legends of the Past". I am going to exhibit my current painting series with the title "Racing Sports Legends - Le Mans", at the 26th  Techno-Classica in Essen from 26th to 30th March 2014.

Just like for the Mille Miglia Series, also this year a catalogue accompanying the project is going to be compiled, which, upon completion, will be available for download on my website. Additionally, a special area for the website is on the way which is going to deal with the theme Racing Sports Legends - Le Mans.

What is new is the divide this project is based on. In addition to two large-format overall champions-series I am going to present another series of three artworks that adpt the charm of old racing sports posters and which highlight the holding of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the years 1923, 1930 and 1931.

With planning the trade fair, compiling the catalogue and my current projects I am quite busy at the moment. On top will come that we are moving within Muenster in order to relocate my living- and working space. The workshop and the gallery will have a new home in the near future. Enthusiastically and with positive expectations, I am looking forward to the future.

Following, an extract from my catalogue that is soon going to be published:

LEGENDS OF MOTOR SPORTS

The 24 Hours of Le Mans are regarded the hardest race in the world. On the traditional racing court, the best drivers clash in order to prove the reliability and level of development of their vehicles in a merciless stress test. In daring duels with dramatic climaxes the magical attraction of the Circuit d´Endurance de la Sarthe continues until today and is fascinating automobile fans world wide. On this racing track, legends were born and racing history was written.

From the first holding of the Le Mans Series in year 1923 to year 1939 it were the successful models of the brands Chenard & Walcker, Bentley, Lorraine-Dietrich, Alfa-Romeo, Lagonda, Bugatti and Delahaye, who could all anchor themselves in the myth and the history of the 24 Heures du Mans by scoring at least one victory in the overall rankings. In the painting series of my project “Racing Sports Legends - Le Mans“ I will pour new life into the history of those heroes of early motor sports.
