Soccer-Art
Soccer came into being in Great Britain in the second half of the 19th century and spread over continental Europe and further continents from the 1880ies and 1890ies. It counts as the world´s most favourite team sport.
For Ferencz Olivier soccer is more than just a topic of artistic discourse. As player and founding member of an, even today, committed group of ambitious kickers, he started playing soccer in a student team in Berlin in his leisure. Until today, he draws strength for his creative work from the enduring friendships and the team spirit.
From the ceremony on the occasion of the German championship of FC Bayern Munich in 2008, during which Ferencz Olivier handed over his artwork and gave a speech during the farewell for the trainer Ottmar Hitzfeld, an anecdote from his speech has become memorable: »There are two things in life which you cannot choose. The family you are born into and the soccer club, that has been placed in your cradle in the city where you were born.«
Next to logo-artworks for Hertha BSC Berlin and FC Bayern Munich, the artist has painted for a multitude of international and national soccer clubs. An artwork on the occasion of the 100st anniversary of FIFA in 2004 is a further highlight in his career.
