my new home

Ferencz Olivier, 2020

10 Questions to the Artist

At Lake Tegernsee south of Munich. Here I find the biggest inspiration for my art.

Autodidactically with a portion of talent and curiosity.

A technique similar to fresco-painting in the Renaissance, in which pigments are mixed with fine marble powder and applied to a still moist multiple-layer primer. Also a mixture of oil- and acrylic paint is employed.

That depends on the size and the motif of the work and can take up to 8 weeks. It´s the drying phases of my multi-layer painting technique that define the time the creation process takes.

It consists of the sum of material and expenditure by time as well as request and intellectual property.

It is the unique painting style and the unique selling point on the market.
My artworks transform logos, figuratively seen, into cultural brands, because they appear as if they were created ages ago and have been loaded with positive affirmations over time.

I see myself as a modern pentathlete in arts. In the disciplines of painting, technology, creativity, marketing and strategy I see myself as being in the upper mid-field, but in the combination of all disciplines, I reach a unique selling point that is regarded a benchmark in Corporate-Art, so to say art for companies.

The trigger and starting point for the study, which, by the way, was given the working title “When do logos make us happy?“, was a rather random meeting with the renowned neurologist Prof. Dr. Heinz Wiendl and his enthusiasm for brand art.

Commissioned artworks constitute the biggest amount of my creative work, but I also spend time on occupying myself artistically with special events that have aroused my emotional attention.

In the end, everything will be good. And if it is not good yet, then it is not the end.

Live and Career

Ferencz Olivier was born in Berlin on 2nd September 1962 and is a German-Hungarian artist. He is pioneer and the most important representative of the still young art movement of Corporate-Art.

Olivier lives at Lake Tegernsee in Bavaria, has been married since 1993 and has 3 children. His wife, Pia Neißendorfer-Hetyei, is running a gallery in Rottach-Egern, which exclusively offers works and editions by Ferencz Olivier.

Ferencz Olivier first went through an apprenticeship as furrier before he went to South Africa for 2 years in 1982, where he produced first studio works and exhibitions.

A following study trip to Italy in 1985/86 to the beautiful city of Florence, triggered his interest in and enthusiasm for the historical frescos of the Italian Renaissance. This intensive experience and fascination which gave the impetus to paint experimentally as an artist and to develop a technique that reminds of fresco painting. First paintings in this new technique were already sold at that time.

Back in Germany he made his A-levels via second-chance education in Berlin in 1987 in order to start a full-time study in Baden-Wuerttemberg, which he successfully finished in 1988 as textile business economist TBE. A 15-years-long engagement in sales and design in diverse companies in the fashion industry followed, before he dedicated himself to fine arts in 2003.

A key event for this step was looking at the fragile remnants of a long-gone brand logo on an old building frontage in Berlin. Here, the idea was born to transform brand logos in a historical context to make them appear like a valuable cultural asset.

Making Word- and figurative marks appear more valuable by adding an artistically created patina, lending them more character and trustworthiness, has from this moment onward become his motivation to exclusively occupy himself with this specific art form.

Social Commitment

Under the patronage and chair of ZDF-TV journalist Dunja Hayali, the community foundation Rheinviertel invited to their 6th foundation ball into the guest house of the Federal Republic in the Steigenberger Grandhotel Petersberg in Königswinter near Bonn on 15th October 2011.

The foundation´s motto "The gift of giving" and the dynamics radiating from Dr. Wolfgang Picken had moved my to make a contribution within my means.

With his artwork "The Priest" Ferencz Olivier supported Dean Picken and the community foundation in their endeavour to transform and expand the Sonja-Kill kindergarten into an inclusive daycare centre with 3 groups.

Münstarity originated based on the idea to create education opportunities for children in 3rd world countries. Since its launch, the company Engel & Völkers pursues this goal under the motto "It s time to share": to support the youth in Agbediko, Togo, by building schools.

The varied and entertaining evening programme of this benefit gala, first held on 17th September 2011, which offered a felicitous mixture of pleasures of life, the Ferencz Olivier art and jewellery, contributed largely to the willingness to donate money.

On the occasion of the first season in the 1st Bundesliga since the club was founded in 1907, the artist is offering the image motif with the signatures of the entire team as a high-quality art print in a strictly limited edition of 190+7.

Ferencz Olivier will personally hand-sign and number the edition on site. The artist then donates 50% of the proceeds to the youth department of FC Augsburg.

In the Foundation Neuromedicine Project, a logo-artwork was created for the foundation´s branch office at Albert-Schweitzer-Campus in Muenster, which was supposed to serve representative purposes. The artwork, measuring 4,0 m in width and 1,4 m in height, was yielded to the foundation as a tribute for their work.
