Automotive-Art
From the first reliability test drives for “horseless carriages“ in the second half of the 19th century up to today´s Formula 1 events with breathtaking speed, the development of racing sport has gone an eventful way with great triumphs and spectacular technological developments. In unforgettable moments, legends were born, myths created, which captivate automobile fans worldwide until today.
This magical attraction has inspired Ferencz Olivier to artistic occupation with this topic and has led to a discourse with the cult, the energy and the emotional connection with the heroes of classic racing sport history.
It all began in 2012, when the artist occupied himself with the classical Mille Miglia from 1927 to 1957. Art projects and publications on the 24-hour race of Le Mans and the project “Brand-Epochs – Fascination and Origin“ followed all the way to he artistic conception of the unique and renowned Rofgo-Collection, a collection of historical Gulf-racing cars, which is situated in Hampshire, England.
Over 10 years later, in 2023, Ferencz Olivier occupied himself again with the history of the most beautiful race of the world and has realized the project Mille Miglia 2.0. Even if the Mille Miglia Series from 2012 had a poster-like character, the artist has now introduced 3-dimensionality into his creative process. Museum space with paintings of “Old masters“ as well as Pop-Art and Modernism in connection with vehicles of the classical Mille Miglia and its protagonists, has created a suspense curve and makes the project so outstanding.
The passion and the fascination for historical vehicles have culminated in Ferencz Olivier taking part in well-known vintage cars rallying with his own historical vehicles since 2019, in order to get the spirit and the accompanying odour of fuels to fill himself with inspiration for further thrilling art projects.
